HOBIE SURFBOARDS BROCHURE (1960)

This is the original Hobie Surfboards Brochure. It was given to Whittier grommet Pat Reid by Hobie Alter himself at his Dana Point surf shop back in June of 1960. Pat kept it in pristine condition for 46 years before finally giving it up. Thanks, Pat! The two interior pages of this bi-fold brochure include shots of Mike Doyle at Makaha and Greg Noll at Waimea Bay, along with text by Hobie Alter. "The Dana Point Shop was the first real surfboard shop and remains the only building designed and built exclusively for surfboard manufacturing," Hobie wrote. This piece is in very good condition, at least 85 percent of mint. Some creasing of front cover near spine edge. Otherwise very light cover and spine wear. No splitting or tearing anywhere. Measures approximately 9 inches wide by 4 inches tall. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. From the Pat Reid Collection. Click Here for a closer look and for a peek at the back cover, a shot of Hobie Alter's first surf shop in Dana Point. This piece predates area codes and zip codes! Sold at $195.
