It was the need to "Protect Every Last Drop" that inspired this benefit for The Friends of Avalon Bay, on August 27th, 2006.
One of those friends was surfer/rocker Donavon Frankenreiter, who performed at the Descanso Beach Club on Catalina Island for this, the first-ever shindig to bring awareness to everyone on keeping the ocean blue.
Chosen to create a poster for this very special event was John Van Hamersveld, a hardcore surfer himself a few decades ago, rode the waves on those same beaches with his buddy rock art grandaddy Rick Griffin and other LA surf freaks. Some may remember the 1966 film The Endless Summer. John's classic poster of the movie's actual surfers -- bathed in red light and backed by a shimmering yellow sun -- is practically as well-known as the movie itself.
This lithograph measures 24 inches wide by 36 inches tall. It is a signed, limited edition of 3000, offset-printed on rich coated stock. It is a beautiful piece of art. The view of the horizon seen through the die-cut of a Fender Telecaster makes it destined to be something of a classic itself.
This limited edition poster has been signed by the artist, John Van Hamersveld. This poster is in very good or near-mint condition, with only some very light wear from handling. No creases, tears, tack holes, or tape marks. No water stains or moisture damage of any kind.
Will ship in a heavy duty mailing tube.
