POPULAR MECHANICS (JULY 1937)

"Riding the Breakers on This Hollow Hawaiian Surfboard!" Pages 114 through 117 are written by the man himself, Tom Blake. Contains photos, illustrations, diagrams, and dimensions to build your own hollow wooden surfboard. This rare gem of an issue may be the first recorded document on how to build one. Also includes classic period ads, including a hilarious Camel ad on the back cover which suggests that smoking Camels aids in digestion...or is that indigestion? This is a rare copy in very good overall condition, about 75 to 80 percent of mint. Bottom edge of binding is frayed and worn. Otherwise light cover and spine wear. Complete and intact with no torn or missing pages and no cutouts. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. Measures approximately 9.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Click Here for a view of the interior pages. Sold at $75.
