Vintage Collectibles - Magazines - Surfer Magazine - 1970's

Randall Kim gets a big piece of a helpless little Kaiser's wave. Terry Fitzgerald goes "back to the future" and pens a piece on "The Eighties," and what to expect...lots of day-glo colors, contests, and crowds. An Australia travel feature titled "Sydney: Portrait of a Surfing Metropolis" details an area rich with waves and surfing talent. Then experience a "South Shore Summer: The Young and Restless" by Leonard Brady, featuring the usual suspects -- Buttons, Dane, Derek Ho, and Randall Kim -- annihilating it as usual. "Unless you were born there, forget it." Gerry Lopez offers some "Surfing Alternatives." We say goodbye to Butch Van Artsdalen, who died on the morning of July 19, 1979. Also includes a Mexico travel feature, a Phyllis Dameron profile by Bernie Baker, "The Sandy Beach Affair," a windsurfing feature, and "Pipeline Underground," with Brian Bulkley, Doug Brown, and Bruce Hansel on some 20-megaton bombs! This magazine is in very good or Betty condition, about 80 percent of mint. Light cover and spine wear, with a tiny ding in front cover, just above the "R" in SURFER. Lower right corner is dogeared slightly. No pulling at staples. No torn or missing pages and no cuotuts. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board.
