Looking for a super rare artifact?
This vintage SURFER Magazine has been signed by four members of the Duke Kahanamoku Surfing Club, including the Duke himself! Other signatures include the late Butch Van Artsdalen, Fred Hemmings, and Paul Strauch, who signed his SURFER Poll portrait on page 33.
Also check out the Duke Kahanamoku Surfing Club press photo, a nice complement to this piece: It pictures the legends who signed this mag and is from the same collection, probably obtained at the same time.
Content includes a classic two-page ad for Greg Noll's "Da Cat." A Peru travel feature takes you to Pico Alto, which Felipe Pomar describes as "better than Sunset." Mike Doyle takes top honors in the 1965 Surfer Poll Awards. Content also includes "Griffin and Stoner in Merry Olde England," a South Africa travel feature, "The Girls Who Surf (Are Different)" by Bill Cleary, and "Big Day at Steamer Lane."
We rate this one a Betty-plus, or about 85 percent of mint. Very light cover and spine wear. No pulling at staples and no staple rust. No water stains or moisture damage of any kind. Complete and intact with no torn or missing pages and no cutouts.
Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board.
